BIOGRAPHY
This season, Welsh soprano Eiry Price joins the Welsh National Opera as an Associate Artist, where she sings Countess Ceprano in Adele Thomas’ new production of Rigoletto, conducted by Pietro Rizzo, Barbarina in Tobias Richter’s Le Nozze di Figaro, conducted by Kerem Hasan and Second Niece in a new production of Peter Grimes by Melly Still. She will also appear in recital with pianist James Bailieu, as part of the WNO Associate Artists’ annual showcase.
Eiry has performed with Opera Rara, singing in Offenbach’s La Princesse de Trébizonde under Paul Daniel and Mercadante’s Il proscritto and Donizetti’s L’Esule di Roma under Carlo Rizzi, all with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. On the competition stage, she has won the James Pantyfedwen Vocal Award, the Park Jones Scholarship, and the Towyn Roberts Scholarship at the National Eisteddfod. Eiry was a finalist in the Welsh singers showcase competition, 2024.
A graduate of the Royal College of Music and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Eiry was generously supported by the Countess of Munster Trust, the H R Taylor Trust, and the Dick Maidment and Peggy Cooper Trust.
Soprano Eiry Price is from North Wales, and is a 2024/2025 Welsh National Opera Associate Artist. She is an alumna of the Royal College of Music and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, where she was generously supported by the Countess of Munster Trust, the H R Taylor Trust, and the Dick Maidment and Peggy Cooper Award. Eiry has collaborated with Opera Rara, performing in Offenbach’s La Princesse de Trébizonde with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Mercadante’s Il proscritto under Carlo Rizzi. A regular on the competition platform, Eiry won the James Pantyfedwen Vocal Award, the Park Jones Scholarship, and the Towyn Roberts Scholarship at the National Eisteddfod.
Future WNO 2024/2025 engagements include Countess Ceprano Rigoletto; Barbarina and Susanna (cover) The Marriage of Figaro; and Second Niece Peter Grimes. She will also perform as Susanna in an abridged version of The Marriage of Figaro. On the concert platform, she will perform in the WNO Associate Artists’ Recital in 2025.
